Le Cholo sits quietly in the rolling countryside of southern Brittany, five minutes from the market town of Pluvigner. Restored with a designer’s eye but without losing its soul, it is generous, relaxed and full of the things that make a country house feel like home: worn terracotta, antique furniture, deep sofas, books, pictures and an open fire.

The main sitting room brings everyone together around the fire; the timber-lined library gives you somewhere quieter for a book or a film. French doors and deep windows keep the gardens close, even when the Breton weather encourages an afternoon indoors.

Four double bedrooms and a twin sleep up to ten. Four-poster beds, antique furniture and individual colours give each room its own personality.

Pink limewashed walls, bespoke sage cabinetry and a magnificent Lacanche range make cooking part of the holiday. Next door, the long dining table seats twelve comfortably—the setting for slow breakfasts, market lunches and dinners that run late.
